Tyra Banks’s Namesake Beauty Brand Makes an Appearance on ‘Celebrity Apprentice’

The eighth season of the Celebrity Apprentice debuted Monday night — and there’s a brand new boss in town. Arnold Schwarzenegger, bodybuilder, actor, and former governor of California, is filling in for President-elect Donald Trump as he fulfills his political duties.

Joining Schwarzenegger on Episode 1 was supermodel, television host, and businesswoman Tyra Banks as well as entertainment lawyer (and Arnold’s nephew) Patrick Knapp Schwarzenegger.

Contestants, including Laila Ali, Brooke Burke-Charvet, Carson Kressley, Kyle Richards, and more, were tasked with impressing the founder and CEO of Tyra Beauty by creating a 10-minute experience to sell her “fun, fast, and fierce products for everyone.” The 16 participants were divided based on gender into two teams, with Porsha Williams leading Team Prima and Boy George serving as Team Arete’s project manager.

The men kicked off their presentation by demonstrating how if the “manliest of men” can apply Banks’s line of cosmetics, anyone else can do the same. Their quick routine was full of high energy, engagement, and crowd appreciation that ended with rallying up the crowd by belting out sayings such as, “I came, I saw, I contoured” and “Let the fierce be with you.” In addition to nods of approval from Banks and Schwarzenegger, the crowd loved it and went wild.

The ladies, on the other hand, opted for a more practical approach and had four models applying makeup on themselves to demonstrate how easy it is to do. Their motto: “Transform what you got to get what you want.” The overall messaging came across a little unclear, and those on Team Prima seemed to not be on the same page.

In the end, Team Arete made it work. Banks was really impressed with how the men packaged their presentation while she felt that Team Prima fell short and the whole thing was a hot mess.

To promote the show, Banks took to Instagram and shared a picture of — what else? — herself. “January 2, 2017 The NEW @apprenticenbc premieres! Reminiscing about how much @TYRABeauty has grown since we shot this episode,” she wrote. “It’s been amazing to watch my passion project evolve into the brand it is today.”

Banks also watched the episode in real-time and shared the experience on Facebook Live while wearing cozy-looking coffee and doughnut printed pajamas. “I am helping him decide who should go home and who should stay and on top of that, the task is Tyra Beauty, my cosmetics company, so I’m super excited about this guys,” Banks said while watching. She went on to share other funny commentary as the show played out. “Look at Boy George, he’s got more eyeliner on than me,” she said and, “I’m looking at Porsha right now, Porsha Williams, she’s gorgeous. Ms. house wife.”

The entrepreneur also answered a reader question hinting that she might pop up on another reality TV show soon. Asked if she’ll make a cameo on the rebooted America’s Next Top Model, she said, “We shall see; keep watching.”

Looks like we can look forward to Ms. Banks and her beauty popping up all over our screens in 2017. Only time will tell!
