Gordon Ramsay Is the Frontman for New BBC TV Show

TV presenter and former chef Gordon Ramsay appears to have landed another new TV show. It comes months after he was confirmed as the face of National Geographic’s — recently trailered — Uncharted. As revealed by the Scottish Sun, Ramsay, who will also open a “vibrant Asian” restaurant in London this summer, is set to become the front man on Step Up to The Plate, a sort of Dragon’s Den-meets-My Million Pound Menu with some swearing, assuming “prime time” for Ramsay falls after the 9pm watershed.

The show is only at pilot stage, which means the BBC is unable to supply any further details. But producers are actively encouraging would-be restaurateurs, chefs or product developers to apply, under the slogan “GORDON RAMSAY WANTS YOU!” Ramsay, in his inimitable, unforgiving style will decide who is the “U.K.’s next food superstar.”

Ramsay — who made his name in London cooking Michelin-starred French cuisine in the 1990s — has become one of the most famous faces in British food. He has certainly been the most successful British chef to establish himself in America, fronting popular TV shows like Hell’s Kitchen and Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares. Ramsay has for many years held an allegiance to Channel 4 and ITV; the BBC is said to regard Step Up to The Plate as a “coup.”

A source told the Scottish Sun: “It’s a great coup for the BBC to pinch Gordon from its rivals. The show is in its very early stages...Gordon is hugely popular with audiences and a household name with unrivalled knowledge of the industry.”
