Bear Grylls onto his next adventure in production

Published on October 21, 2019

British survivalist Bear Grylls is always looking for a new adventure and has now agreed on a deal to create a new TV production company titled The Natural Studios.

Grylls told reporters his goal is to make “the ultimate home of adventure programming worldwide.”

The adventure content produced will include scripted and non-scripted shows. Grylls is the host of several popular survival TV shows including Man vs. Wild, Worst-Case Scenario, and Born Survivor.

What’s the scoop on The Natural Studios

He is teaming up with Delbert Shoopman, who has served as an executive producer for several of Gryll’s shows, to open the production company. The two will serve as co-CEOs.

The company is backed by French global production and distribution company Banijay Group.

This helps Banijay secure itself as one of the most prominent companies in the adventure production realm.

The distribution group also includes the popular shows Survivor, Keeping Up with The Kardashians, and Wife Swap.

According to sources, Grylls and Shoopman will still have total control of the new company and intend on creating drama shows as well.

“The Natural Studios will be providing a home for the best adventure talent to help them create shows with us that inspire and move people to go for it in their lives and never give up”, said Grylls.

As several deals have been made with other television stars on platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and HBO Max, chief executive of Banijay Group Marco Bassetti believes in Grylls saying, “In a crowded marketplace, with many new places, only strong talent can cut through as the face of adventure globally, Bear does just this.”

All of his current shows will be made by The Natural Studios along with his current production partners, and the rights and distribution will now be held by the new company along with Banijay.

Grylls’s Continous Success

Grylls videos continue to be popular and have garnered more than a total of two billion views, which includes episodes with Vanessa HudgensYao Ming, and the former US President Barack Obama.

Gryll’s August episode with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has over 3.6 billion online impressions.

He previously won a BAFTA (Home of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts) Award for the series The Island with Bear Grylls and was also Emmy-nominated for his hit shows Hostile Planet and You vs. Wild.

Gryll’s has a 2019 estimated net worth over $20 million dollars (USD) and is a published writer of over 85 books.

ACF Investment Bank brokered the deal for Grylls and Shoopman with Banijay.

Gryll’s hit show Treasure Island made a return this year with a £100,000 cash prize for the winner. The show chooses 12 British citizens to show their survival skills while trapped on a remote island for 35 days.

They are currently looking for people to be on the show and are accepting applications. The shows advertisement states, “No experience of adventure or survival is necessary!” However, there are a few requirements prior to applying: the individual must be over the age of 18, must have the legal right to live in the United Kingdom and must have a valid passport.
