PROFILE

Ada Tsang Yin-hung is a record-breaking Hong Kong mountaineer, former secondary school teacher, and motivational speaker.

Starting serious mountaineering in 2010 with no previous experience, she underwent years of high-intensity training in ice and rock climbing alongside long-distance running. After her initial attempts on Mount Everest in 2014 and 2015 were thwarted by severe avalanches, she quit her job as a life education teacher in 2017 to train full-time. Later that year, she became the first Hong Kong woman to summit Mount Everest.

In May 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Tsang set a landmark Guinness World Record for the fastest female ascent of Mount Everest, climbing non-stop from Base Camp to the 29,031-foot peak in 25 hours and 50 minutes. (This record was later surpassed by Nepal's Phunjo Lama in 2024).

Continuing her high-altitude speed pursuits, Tsang achieved another milestone in September 2025 by completing the fastest recorded female ascent of Mt. Manaslu (8,163m), climbing from Base Camp to the summit in 18 hours and 53 minutes.

Today, she actively works as a keynote speaker and coach, delivering presentations centred on resilience, goal deconstruction, and overcoming adversity.

Journey to the Top

‘Aim high, so you can achieve high’, was the mantra for Hong Kong climber Ada Tsang in setting the world record. Ada started her journey with no experience in mountain climbing. She quickly learned she would have to go through years of high intensity training to complete her goal—starting at the beginning. “No matter how big your dream is, you need to break it into small pieces so you can achieve it,”

It is a story about passion, determination, and grit. Despite the adversity Ada faced throughout her journey, she never gave up, and hopes to inspire others to always be fearless, dream the impossible, and push as hard as you can until you reach your goals. She believes that all failures and difficulties are only here to make us train harder, be more focused, so we return stronger.
