A blend of East and West with Malaysian and Irish roots, Deborah Henry has built a multifaceted career bridging the worlds of high fashion, media, and social entrepreneurship. From modelling in top global fashion capitals to representing Malaysia on global pageant stages, she has channelled her public platform into creating lasting humanitarian impact.
Deborah began modelling at 15, moving to London in 2003 where she walked for and collaborated with luxury fashion houses including Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Chanel, and Ungaro. After graduating with a degree in Political Science and Economics from the University of Queensland, Australia, she earned national acclaim by winning Miss World Malaysia 2007 (reaching the Top 15 semi-finalists at Miss World) and later representing the nation as Miss Universe Malaysia 2011.
Beyond her work as a sought-after TV host, emcee, and media personality, Deborah is a passionate champion for marginalized communities. In 2009, she co-founded Fugee School, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing primary, secondary, and tertiary education access to refugee children in Malaysia. To ensure sustainable funding for these educational initiatives, she founded Fugeelah in 2017, a conscious lifestyle social enterprise that collaborates with designers to generate sustainable income, employment, and skill-building opportunities for refugee youth.
A long-time advocate for UNHCR Malaysia and World Vision, Deborah launched the Fugee HiEd Scholarship program, partnering with private universities to create higher education pathways for refugee high school graduates. Listed among Tatler Asia's Most Influential, she regularly moderates and speaks at corporate summits and international forums on social entrepreneurship, purpose-driven leadership, CSR, and sustainable development.
