David Li Daokui is one of China’s most influential economists and most eminent professors. He is a former member of the Monetary Policy Committee of the People’s Bank of China. He is the Director of the Centre for China in the World Economy (CCWE), Mansfield Freeman Professor of the Department of Finance of the School of Economics and Management, and Director of the Scholars Programme at Tsinghua University.

Prior to joining Tshingua University as a Professor in 2004, Li was Associate Professor of Economics at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan, and National Fellow at the Hoover Institute at Stanford University. He worked as a Consultant at the World Bank (Social Security Studies) and was a Visiting Scholar at the Harvard Institute for International Development.

Li is active in public service, a delegate to the Beijing People’s Congress, and a member of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Committee. He is also a member of the Global Agenda Councils and, a Rapporteur of the International Financial Institutions Reform Cluster of the Global Redesign Initiative (GRI) of the World Economic Forum in Davos. He is Vice President of The Chinese Association for World Economic Studies, and a Research Fellow of the Centre for Economic Policy Research.
