Gurmit Singh is one of the most well known faces in the region. His versatile talent sees him take on roles of a comedian, host, singer and actor. Naturally comedic, his engaging personality makes him well liked by audiences wherever he goes.
He started his career with Mediacorp, Singapore's largest media broadcaster and provider in 1994. He remained with Mediacorp for 20 years until his departure in 2014.

He is best known for his portrayal of Phua Chu Kang in the Mediacorp produced television series "PCK Private Limited" that ran for 167 episodes from 1997 to 2007. Gurmit's flair for comedy made the character an icon that is instantly recognisable with his trademark curly hair and yellow boots. The television series has won numerous awards at the Asian Television Awards and Gurmit was recognised for his talent, clinching the Best Comedy Actor award five times.

Gurmit is also a much sought after host and emcee. He has hosted numerous shows on Singapore television over the years, including three seasons of Singapore Idol, the local version of the successful American Idol series. In addition, Gurmit has hosted large scale events such as the Singapore National Day Parade 19 times and New Year Eve countdown celebrations, also 19 times. Recently, Gurmit was nominated for the Best Entertainment Presenter/Host award in the 2016 Asian Television Awards.

In 2001, Gurmit made his silver screen debut in acclaimed director Eric Khoo's film, "One Leg Kicking". In 2007, he was nominated in the Best Leading Actor category for the prestigious Golden Horse Awards, the Chinese-language equivalent of the Oscars for his role in the film "Just Follow Law". The other nominees in the category included Hong Kong actors Tony Leung and Aaron Kwok, and Chinese actor Zhao Benshan.

In 2012, Gurmit was voted top ten trusted person in Singapore in an independent survey done by Readers’ Digest, making him the only entertainer in the top ten- the next entertainer being in the 50th position.  The top ten included the Chief Justice, the Police Commissioner and other high ranking civil and private individuals.

Gurmit continues to be active hosting corporate events, dinner functions and providing motivational talks.
